Hello,
I'm glad you have taken an interest in
choosing or being a God Parent. I myself have been a God
Parent to Megan Bear since she was a little over 2 years
old. She is now 10 and let me tell you, 8 years ago when her
father asked me to watch over her once cancer had taken over
his body. I really had no idea what I was in for.
I, as a friend
have done what I can to fulfill the promise I made to him. I
do all I can to help with her education, after school
activities, and the guidance I know her father would want
for her. This is not a job, this is life. She knows her and
I have something special and grows more respect for her
father for taking the time to ask for someone to help her in
life as he laid on his death bed.
As she gets older she understands more and
more, about
why her father asked this of me. She knows I'm the one who
brought her home from the hospital and I have been Uncle Scott
since she was 3 hours old. I have this Childs spirit but not
her blood. I have held her in my arms all of her life, yet I
have no "Real Rights" to her life and no
"Legal Judgment". Her mother respects my wishes as
she knows I love Megan, but Megan's father and I went to
school together, worked together, and were neighbors, so I
feel she knows I can make a decision for Megan and it be
from love, but it will be as her father would respect.
I plan to update this page soon. I want to
provide the legal information on "The Rights of God
Parents"
Tank you for your time,
Scott Lynch
